  36. WHAT DOES A FAST PILOT DO?  The ore

  38. smelting plants of the Belt colonies
  39.  
  40. use pulverized asteroids for raw
  41.  
  42. material.  FAST pilots fly their ships
  43.  
  44. between the colonies' force fields,
  45.  
  46. pulverizing asteroids with laser
  47.  
  48. cannon.

  51. IS IT DANGEROUS?  The Federation is

  53. completely honest with prospective

  57. complications.  But nothing anyone

  76. droids flying in the sweep range.

  83. the colonies' force field. Transports

  85. cannot touch the walls of the force

  92. must perodically dock with fuel

  94. stations located in the sweeping

  96. range.  If a transport runs out of

  98. fuel, it is destroyed immediately.

  101. But the Federation spares no expense

  103. where the safety of its pilots is
  104.  
  105. concerned: we have replaced the old
  106.  
  107. fuel stations with a new design that
  108.  
  109. allows the transport to refuel by
  110.  
  111. ramming the station.

  114. The only problem so far has been that

  116. at high speeds, the new fuel stations
  117.  
  118. may appear similar to asteroids. Some

  120. pilots have destroyed their fuel

  122. supply accidently.  Federation

  126. this problem soon.
